The Lion.

"Don't you know who is the King of the Beasts? Aslan is a lion -- the Lion, the great Lion."

"Ooh," said Susan, "I thought he was a man. Is he -- quite safe? I shall feel rather nervous about meeting a lion."

"That you will, dearie, and make no mistake," said Mrs. Beaver, "if there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else silly."

"Then he isn't safe?" said Lucy.

"Safe?" said Mr. Beaver, "don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you."

Divine Irony.

A Savior has been born; He is Christ the Lord. The Savior is born.
God wearing human jeans.
What was it like for the Creator to be created?
What was it like for the God bigger than the universe to become a baby?
What was it like to leave the grip of eternity and spend 9 months in a womb?
For the eyes that saw the light separate from the darkness
now strain to make out shapes
For the hands that stirred the cosmos now playing with his toes
Instead of fanfare greeting Creation's King,
emerging in a flood of fluid, blood, and tears
From the clothes of majesty to a straight jacket of skin and bone
swaddling clothes
What was it like to trade the throne room of heaven
for the manger in a stable?
Instead of Seraphim at Your foot, cattle and donkeys lowed into the night
From streets of gold to alleyways of dust and dung
Could you still hear the angels singing,
or just the constant drum of Mary's heartbeat?
The architect of the heavens and earth playing with building blocks
What was it like for the Creator of all things
being told to keep quiet and respectful?
What was it like for the Father to become a Child?

The divine irony is unbearable.
Didn't You know what You were getting into?
The beauty of it is that You did, and You did it anyways.
What can I say to that?

Year In Review

Find the first entry for each month of 2005. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

January: i don't usually make new year resolutions, but for 2005 i have decided to incorporate more of the following things into my life: healthy eating, daily exercise, God time, and a true living-for-the-moment attitude.
February: Seems like just yesterday, You were a part of me, I used to stand so tall, I used to be so strong (Kelly Clarkson, Behind These Hazel Eyes).
March: don't just let your life fill up with things you aren't passionate about just to get to the next best thing...
April: i remember it so clearly: sitting with karen at a round table in the kletz listening to 12th street harmony and tearing up paper.
May: A - Age you got your first kiss: 15
June: Can you imagine how different life would be if we actually said what we were thinking all the time?
July: am i really in prague right now?
August: I left my beloved dorm at 4am on Saturday morning having not slept all night (Closing party, to student bar, to dorm room party...)
September: "i keep thinking tomorrow is coming today so i am endlessly waiting" (counting crows)
October: oh billy. your lyrics are as good as those sweet piano playin hands...
November: i think my neighbors upstairs are having a star wars marathon.
December: World AIDS Day is a yearly, global event started in January 1988 to promote awareness and action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

World Aids Day

World AIDS Day
Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise

World AIDS Day is a yearly, global event started in January 1988 to promote awareness and action in the fight against HIV/AIDS. According to UNAIDS estimates, there were 37.2 million adults and 2.2 million children worldwide living with HIV at the end of 2004. During the year 4.9 million people became newly infected with the virus. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35. Around 95% of people with HIV/AIDS live in developing nations. But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world. In Africa alone, more than 17 million people have died from AIDS and another 25 million are infected with the HIV virus, approximately 1.9 million of whom are children. Every day in Africa, HIV/AIDS kills 6,300 people. 8,500 people are infected with the HIV virus and 1,400 newborn babies are infected during childbirth.

This year, the theme of World AIDS Day is "Stop Aids: Keep the Promise" which reminds us that our government leaders need to be held accountable for their commitments to the fight against AIDS and act in order to delivered the promised results. (article from www.one.org)
