"Life transforming ideas have always come to me through books." -Oliver Wendell Holmes
in the last 4 months (from mid-december to mid-april) i have read the following books for my own entertainment (plus any reading for classes):
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, by J.K. Rowling
Life of Pi, by Yann Martel
Wicked, by Gregory Maguire
The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera
My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult
(okay, so i'm just over halfway through that last one. but i'm cruisin right along and it's a page turner, so i'll be done soon.)
i can't even express how proud i am of myself! when i was a kid, i LOVED to read. i'd check stacks of books out of the library at a time, cause i went through about a book a day sometimes. i used to read in bed every night. but by high school and college, when school got a little more complicated, reading for fun kind of dropped off. i always read a few books in the summer, and usually one over christmas break. but this, this is good. while in school and working i've managed to read 6 books for fun in 4 months! at this rate, maybe i WILL eventually read all the books that i own! (except that i keep buying more...)

And just think about when you're out of school, what damage can be done! I think that is what I've loved the most about being out of school. Reading for fun... what a concept! :) -Bethany
