i'm giving up on you people and this song game. does anyone even read this?
i ate a mango today for the first time ever.
yesterday i went for a bike ride in a tank top. even got a little sun. today? freezing.
i'm feeling the need for a little break from academia. good thing i've got two weeks til summer... oh wait, i'm taking summer school. what was i thinking? maybe that this way i'll be finished august 1st and can take a REAL break from academia.
i think i need something different for awhile. something that doesn't involve staring at a computer screen all day. something that involves interacting with people. maybe even something that makes me happy, makes me feel energized.
meanwhile, it's raining in baltimore...

participation please :)
Ok, so I'm a little late on this game, but here is it... you all gotta guess what the songs are.
Rules:
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Italicize the songs when someone guessing it correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
1) Walkin just the other day, and it was so hot outside, you could fry an egg.
2) Every evening's sky an invitation to trace the patterned stars.
3) One of these days I'm goin home to be in the place that you prepared for me.
4) Some love is just a lie of the heart, the cold remains of what began as a passionate start.
5) Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road, time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go.
6) I can hear her heartbeat from a thousand miles, and the heavens open everytime she smiles.
7) It was a stormy night, you know the kind where the lightning strikes.
8) Inside my skin, there is this space, it twists and turns, it bleeds and aches.
9) Lightning crashes an old mother dies.
10) I hope you're happy, I hope you're happy now, I hope you're happy how you hurt your cause forever, I hope you think you're clever.
11) Well I guess it would be nice if I could touch your body, I know not everybody has got a body like you.
12) One song glory, one song before I go.
13) Watch the sunrise, say your goodbyes, off you go.
14) We're all aging, growing up, and I see seasons changing, play a game of make-believe.
15) Goodnight L.A. cause I'm awake in my room, been up for 38 hours and it don't look like sleep's comin soon.
16) I was young and didn't have nowhere to run, I needed to wake up and see what's in front of me.
17) In the midnight hour, you can feel the minutes fade.
18) I will be the answer at the end of the line, I will be there for you while you take the time.
19) Steal my heart, hold my tongue, I feel my time, my time is come.
20) I know you believe in me, that's all I ever need, no no nothin's gonna stop us, nothin will discourage me.

"Life transforming ideas have always come to me through books." -Oliver Wendell Holmes
in the last 4 months (from mid-december to mid-april) i have read the following books for my own entertainment (plus any reading for classes):
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, by J.K. Rowling
Life of Pi, by Yann Martel
Wicked, by Gregory Maguire
The Unbearable Lightness of Being, by Milan Kundera
My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult
(okay, so i'm just over halfway through that last one. but i'm cruisin right along and it's a page turner, so i'll be done soon.)
i can't even express how proud i am of myself! when i was a kid, i LOVED to read. i'd check stacks of books out of the library at a time, cause i went through about a book a day sometimes. i used to read in bed every night. but by high school and college, when school got a little more complicated, reading for fun kind of dropped off. i always read a few books in the summer, and usually one over christmas break. but this, this is good. while in school and working i've managed to read 6 books for fun in 4 months! at this rate, maybe i WILL eventually read all the books that i own! (except that i keep buying more...)

to borrow from carrie bradshaw...
I am someone who is looking for love.
Real love.
Ridiculous,
inconvenient,
consuming,
can't-live-without-each-other love.

cheers
i love london. it's such a fabulous mix of old and new. much of it reminded me of new york or chicago. but other parts of prague and vienna. what a combination of new urban flavor and rich history and architecture. and never separate, but wonderfully intertwined throughout the city. mmmmmm. :)
we had beautiful weather. sunny and chilly but never cold, never hot. great times as always with karen and kari. love those girls.
i won't write a novel about it here. really i should be curled up in a cozy chair somewhere writing many many poems about london. but it's too close right now.
in the meantime.... pictures! http://www.flickr.com/photos/ktb8482/sets/
